The backstory:
The Velmas formed in West Lafayette, Ind., where most of the band members were going to school at Purdue. They broke up in the late 1990s. “We were all going in different directions, career-wise, romantically, musically, etc.,” says John deMoulpied.
Note: This is not the band by the same name that came later. Our Velmas came first.
