Nil/Resplendent

Nil/Resplendent picks up where The Fire Show left off on their 2002 album Saint The Fire Show. Apostpunk sensibility informs their first record, Lesser Free Trade, but at the same time, it’s quieter, more patient and more experimental Rhythm comes more fully to the fore. Dub and Krautrock lurk in the corners. Murky electronics and modal guitars soundtrack a late-night drive through a dystopian present.

Band members:

Michael Lenzi – drums, percussion, voice

Seth Kim-Cohen – guitar, bass, organ, piano, percussion.

After a 17-year layoff, Michael Lenzi and Seth Kim-Cohen (ex-Fire Show & Number One Cup) renewed their vows to form Nil/Resplendent in early 2019.

Since The Fire Show disbanded in 2002, Lenzi had released a slew of albums under the Tough Solar, Resplendent and Lenzi monikers. His writings and music can be found at michaellenzi.com.

Kim-Cohen has published three books on experimental sound practice and presented his art projects around the world. He teaches the history of sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
